Advisor Den: Meet Megan
This post is the first in a series highlighting Gravie’s advisor team. Gravie advisors come to work each day with one single goal: to remove obstacles for Gravie members.
These obstacles can be anything from struggling to understand a confusing bill to figuring out how much a procedure or prescription will cost.
Meet Megan, Gravie Advisor, working every day to remove obstacles for Gravie members.
What’s your favorite part of working with Gravie members?
I love when I’m able to make a connection with a member. Health insurance is personal; it can be uncomfortable to be asked about income and health concerns. By making a connection with a member, I feel like the member realizes that I really have their best interest in mind. Plus, it’s fun to get to know our members!
What’s the biggest surprise people have when they work with Gravie?
There are two big things:
- People are surprised that we’re willing to get so involved or that we’re willing to just jump into whatever question they have. We’re not just sympathizing and listening to their issues, we’re actually going to bat to solve them.
- People are surprised that we genuinely respect their money and budget. We won’t just push the most expensive plan. We want to learn about our members and help match them with a plan that fits their needs. If they can’t afford the best coverage, we’ll help them find strategic ways to work with the coverage they can afford. People forget that the products available through Gravie aren’t our own products. There’s no incentive for us if you buy one plan over another.
What’s the biggest difference between coming to Gravie versus going directly to the health insurance company?
The biggest difference is that we offer plans from a variety of health insurance companies. But I think the difference that has the biggest impact on our members is that our product is our service. Our product isn’t insurance plans. Our job is to help you with health insurance — plain and simple.
Which company do you look to as an example of great customer service?
Amazon. With anything I’ve ever ordered through Amazon, all issues are addressed and resolved quickly. I’ve never had a bad experience with them and I like all the options available.
We hear that we save people about 45 minutes when tackling health insurance issues. What would you do with an extra 45 minutes in your day?
I would read. I love sitting on the couch with a book, hot tea and blankets. I’m currently reading a book called The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down.
